About

Facing Defiance is a transformative, self-paced course designed for parents and caregivers who are experiencing challenging, oppositional, or defiant behaviours in children aged 5–12. This course is suitable for parents of children with ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) and ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder), as well as for children without a formal diagnosis. You’ll gain practical strategies, psychological insight, and effective communication techniques to help restore calm and cooperation at home. Drawing on over 30 years of experience and informed by established research in child development and behaviour—including the work of Dr Russell Barkley—alongside approaches such as Motivational Interviewing and the Strengthening Families Programme, this course provides clear, realistic guidance you can apply straight away. Through engaging modules, you’ll learn to understand the underlying causes of defiance, recognise triggers, and set effective boundaries without escalating conflict. You’ll develop skills to de-escalate tense situations, build emotional resilience, and strengthen your relationship with your child, even during difficult moments. Whether you’re facing daily power struggles or occasional outbursts, Facing Defiance offers step-by-step support tailored to real family life. Build confidence in your parenting approach and create more positive, connected interactions at home. Please note: This course is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or therapeutic advice. Every child is unique, and if you have concerns about your child’s behaviour or wellbeing, it is important to seek support from a qualified professional. This course is not affiliated with or endorsed by Dr Russell Barkley. Take the first step towards a calmer, more connected family life.
