ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) is an approach coming in from Australia. It is a Behavioural approach heavily based in Mindfulness, that is proving to be incredibly effective with a range of conditions. Anxiety, anger, intrusive thoughts, compulsive behaviour and other strong emotions can have a paralysing effect on the individual. ACT helps to reduce the power the thoughts and feelings have over the behaviour. This session introduces you to the basic concepts and demonstrates how ACT differs from existing approaches. You will gain a new way of understanding the issues and new ideas on how to support someone struggling with these difficult conditions.
