Service Description

A talk for schools, services and organisations. Please email FACE to arrange a booking: info@facefamilyadvice.co.uk These sessions are for schools and academies to book, they are not individual sessions for parents. If you are looking for the online sessions for parents please go back to the top bar and select online sessions. These talks are suitable for delivery to whole year groups. The Level 3 session is suitable for in-person delivery to parents and/or school staff and also as an online session for parents and/or school staff. Level 1 - Years 8 and 9 Young people aged 12 to 14 are at a critical decision-making age when it comes to experimenting with drugs. Statistically, the summer after Year 8 is when those young people who develop addiction issues, try something for the first time. This session focuses on alcohol, tobacco, vapes and cannabis: the drugs most likely to be accessed by the very young. Level 2 - Years 10 and 11 Those aged 14 to 16 are very likely to be socialising away from adult supervision. Often they have siblings or romantic partners who are older still, meaning that they can easily be exposed to more adult environments. This session looks at the process of addiction and withdrawal and self-medication. It also discusses commonly misused substances, emphasising cannabis and ketamine. Level 3 - Years 12 and 13 Between 16 and 18, youngsters will be regularly socialising away from adult supervision. They are about to leave school and start the young adult stage of their development. They may be moving away from their family home to study, travel or work and need to be ready to live independently away from the protection of their parents and school. This session provides hard-hitting facts about the risks and effects of drug misuse, providing them with knowledge to help them make positive decisions.
